For the righteous, let there be peace
Say, ‘Let there be peace.’
Pray tell that it is coming.
Is it just the musings of my wishful thinking?
After all, the good news keeps shrinking.
What a bummer, Alabama is flooded.
What a summer, Iraq is in rags.
What fear! The economy is a bear.
A meltdown is how near? It’s worth a tear.
A crash I cannot bear. I must ignore it.
Let’s sing the lalala song -- all together in a throng.
Iran’s ayatollah is busy scurrying about. He reminds me of Bush.
Irately, are ya hollering at the news? Thoughts of global winter brush my mind.
Pray, say, for peace upon the righteous – wish for this to be done.
Nay, say, peace for evildoers - wish for them to be gone.
