Angels and Demons

Not a whole lot is known about angels.  The Inspired Word tells us that there is an archangel, and that there are Seraphs and Cherubs, two other kinds of angels.  If more than two groups exist is unknown.  (Since there only is one archangel, I only count two groups.)

Evil angels, or the angels that sinned are called demons.  Their chief demon is Satan.  Angels and demons are also known as spirits or spirit beings.  Read on, and that point will make sense!
1 Kings 22:21-22, And there came forth a spirit, and stood before Jehovah, and said, I will entice him. 22And Jehovah said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice him , and also succeed: go forth, and do so. 23And now, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning thee. (Darby)
Matthew 8:16,  And having become evening, they brought to him many being demon possessed. And he cast out the spirits by word, and healed all those faring badly. (ACV)
The word angel also means messenger, and there is no information that tells us what group those that are used as messengers between God and man are!  Of course, they may belong to either one of the two already mentioned?
Gabriel clearly occupies an important position and is not everybody's gopher: " I am Gabriel, who stands near before God."

Except for the Archangel, all the angels came into being by means of the intermediary Archangel Michael.  This one became the agent of our salvation, Jesus Christ. (Heb 2:10, John 1:3,10, Col 1:16, see the page on Jesus' pre-human life)  In this capacity, the Archangel was God's master-worker; God was, is, and will forever remain the Creator.
(It's only proper to once again mention that the proof that the Archangel Michael is the Archangel Jesus is circumstantial and indirect however plentiful it is. See Link: Jesus' pre-human Existence)

Angels or Spirits are not bodiless, incorporeal being.  They have bodiesThis the scripture teaches in 1 Cor 15:39-42.
Every flesh is not the same flesh, but one is of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes. 40 And there are heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies: but different is the glory of the heavenly, different that of the earthly: 41one the sun's glory, and another the moon's glory, and another the stars' glory; for star differs from star in glory. 42Thus also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruptibility. (Darby)

Angels do not enjoy immortality; rather, they have eternal life.  The indication in the Bible is that angels do not die a natural death.  In regard to those that sinned, this may be a matter of time -- time measured perhaps in millions of years.

We have to remember that the angels were created to a different reality than ours, before our universe came to be.  Naturally, the logical assumption is that they share Jehovah's view of time, and to him, a thousand years is as one day.

The reason we know they aren't immortal is because of 1 Timothy 6:14-16:
until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ; 15which in its own time the blessed and only Ruler shall shew, the King of those that reign, and Lord of those that exercise lordship; 16 who only has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor is able to see; to whom be honour and eternal might. Amen. (Darby)

Here Paul tells us that only one being enjoyed immortality at that writing; ergo, the angels did and do not do so!  This was true in ca 61-64 CE when Paul penned his letter, but it is most likely not true any longer.  Presently, the resurrected Saints have been bestowed immortality.

Angels enjoy free will and may sin.  Since angels do not produce heavenly offspring, only remaining perfect angels and those that sinned as Adam sinned exist.

These last belong, as Adam did, to the forever disapproved kind.  There is no and will not be a Savior for them through whom forgiveness may be obtained.  The angels that sinned are the ones called Demons.
2 Peter 2:4, For if God spared not the angels who had sinned, but having cast them down to the deepest pit of gloom has delivered them to chains of darkness to be kept for judgment. (Darby)
The number of angels provided is in the order of 100,000,000.

Daniel 7:10  A stream of fire issued and came forth from before him; thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. (Darby)

All the angels were initially created by God, Jehovah, through his firstborn only begotten god, Jesus Christ.  This happened before our 'physical ' universe was created.

John 1:1-3, In a beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and a god was the Word. 2This was in a beginning with the God. 3All through it was done; and without it was done not even one, that has been done. (Diaglott)
John 1:3,  All things, through him, came into existence, and, without him, came into existence, not even one thing: that which hath come into existence. (Rotherham)
Col 1:14-16, In whom, we have our redemption — the remission of our sins, — 15Who, is an image of the unseen God, Firstborn of all creation, — 16Because, in him, were created all things in the heavens and upon the earth, the things seen and the things unseen, whether thrones or lordships or principalities or authorities, —they all, through him and for him, have been created"

All angels, including the demons, have unimaginable power.  The reason the demons do not cause more problems than they do is because God have set limits on what they may do.  How this is enforced we do not know.  We do know that the demons are terrified of God so one could imagine that most toe the line without having it enforced.  God obviously must have demonstrated his wrath on enough of them to inspire this terror?
James 2:19, You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder. (NW)
For example, demons asked permission from Christ to destroy a herd of pigs.  Also, they used to be able to clothe themselves with human form -- male only it seems (?).  This they are not permitted to do any longer since they misused that gift in the antediluvian world.  (the proof for this is mostly factual and partly scriptural)

Still, Satan is said to have the power to cause death.  Indeed, there are accounts that in some places where witchcraft is practiced, these witches have killed by means of their art.  There are also accounts of how these have tried to kill dedicated servants of God and failed since such were protected by God, Christ, and the angels.  How freely Satan can do this is unknown.  Nonetheless, God servants are protected as long as they serve him and as long as they aren't stupid enough to challenge these evil spirits.  Doing so would leave them outside God's protecting umbrella.

Hebrews 2:14 . . .the one having the means to cause death, that is, the Devil (NW)
Heb 2:14, Since therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like manner, took part in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might of death, that is, the devil. (Darby)

Satan is also called the Devil.  Satan means resistor, and Devil means slanderer.

Ghosts

This subject is being added without direct scriptural proof because only indirect proof is available.  However, there is a full assurance that what is said is true.

Those who have studied the pages proving what the condition of the dead are, or who already know this - know that the dead are no more.  They are nonexistent except as records in God's book of life.  ( Whatever that exactly is ) --Link:  Condition of the dead [ One

The condition of the dead is a scriptural fact not open to interpretation.  We know the dead in no way shape or form can talk, do anything else to communicate, or to interact with the living, even if it seems that they do.

For this reason, the Ghost phenomena - which in itself is well documented both in history and present day's news items - cannot have any connection to the dead themselves!

That only leaves the demons as the root cause of Ghost phenomena.  And, this is in fact what the scriptural evidence combines to show.  The demons are still keeping the lie that they told Eve going - 'You shall not die if you disobey God.' -  This is what they want humans to believe despite God's assurance to the opposite.  This lie also is one of the distinguishing features of false religion that separates the Truth of God from Satan's lies.

When we think about it, this makes perfect sense!  The invisible demons are able to make-believe ghosts, approximations in appearance and word both because of being invisible and because of their superhuman powers.  Obviously, a related subject  is communicating with the dead through a spirit medium - an activity that in the Law Covenant carried the death penalty.  King Saul engaged in this activity at the end of his life in his disapproved state.
