Calculation of Date of Jesus' Death

For the time of Jesus' death, the following is stated as such.  There are literary sources which I do not care to quote that back up my claim; these do not demonstrate how they arrived at the date as this page does.  Some individuals on the net seem to differ slightly in their claims from mine; thus, this calculation gives all a chance to make sure of what is true or false.   If I am in error prove it.

Here you are invited to verify, if you like, what is claimed on my site.  The material provided on this page should suffice as proof, if one is a believer in math, that is.

The calulation provided permits personal verification by those who like this sort of study, so that they may check for themselves whether my claim is true, or not, in regard to Jesus dying on a Friday, April 1, 33CE.  Calculators are permitted. haha.

Let me just mention that there is a fine article at this link about the Memorial date's mechanics in ancient times:
The Memorial Date.  I have no affiliation with this group, but simply have the opinion that the article is well written and to the point.

Since the date of 33CE that I arrive at by no means was too early for the barley harvest mentioned in that link, it is clear that any subsequent full moon would have gone into the month of May, which I believe is unheard of for a Passover celebration.

Period calculated

The calculations will give the number of days between the two dates given, the day of the week, and the moon’s phase between 2008.03.21–1:40PM and 33.04.01 .

On this link to Wikipedia: Wikipedia Moon Info  the Moon's Synodic period is shown to be  29.530588 d  (29 d 12 h 44.0 min).  This information is vital to the calculation because when Jesus died, it was Nisan 14, a full moon.  Thus Jesus' death could only happen on a full moon.  The conclusion is then that if we can calculate the full moon between approximately March 15 to April 15 during which most Nisan–14s fall, then we have pinpointed the date of Nisan 14, 33CE, the day Jesus died.

A little complex

It should be said that I have tried to make the matter as apparent as possible, but that the problem inherently is a little complex.

Data:

March 21, 2008, Friday, at 1:40 PM was full moon universal time.  This link "Start Date | Moon Phase" provided the link in their Sky Almanac.  This link gave the time for March 21, 1:40 PM.

Moon phase: 29.530588 day cycle from full to full.

Leap days added to the years are for every hundred years 24 standard, plus one if the turn of that century is evenly divisible with 400.

The method is as follows:

From 2008 to 33 are:

First the number of days are calculated excluding leap days.

Calendar
Years

2008 —33  = 1975 *365 (See spreadsheet below)
2008.03.22 —2008.01.01 = Jan + Feb (28 days, the leap day is included below)  +21.572222. . .~
33.04.01 —33.01.01= Negative (Jan +Feb +March +1)

Leap Days calculated

Each century has a min. of 24 leap days.  Repeating: If the change of century year, e.g. 2000, is evenly divisible with 400 then one extra leap day is added to that century's number of leap days.

From 2001 to 2008 are two leap years. Thus two leap days are added because March 21, 1.40 PM is later than February.

From year 33 to 100, the calculation is 36 to 96 iteration by division of 4. This result is easiest gotten from the computer.  Thus the number is seen below:

April 1, 33CE:

As seen above, April 1, 33CE, calculates to a Friday.  Below the process is outlined.

Here we are down to the basic calculation:
Frac( Int (721,343.572) / 7) [= 103,049.0000] = Fractional portion = 0

We see that in this case, the offset calculated remains Zero.  This means that the weekday of origin, Friday, is also the target weekday.

I will not go into what would happen if we weren't so lucky that both days are Fridays.  However, those that want to have that extra math fun are welcome to ask me.

Moon Phase

Initially, the moon phase (29.530588 d) must match this date on a full moon.  Here the full number of days, including the fraction must be used.  This gives us the following calculation:

721,343.57222222~ / 29.530588  =24,426.996584769  . . .

This number is a negative moon phase number because we are going back in time.  Therefore, the following calculation must be used:

29.530588 – moon Phase * Frac (721,343.57222222~ / moon Phase) =0.10085377 . . .

We see from this that the positive, normal, Moon Phase of April 1 was 0.1.  This means that Friday, April 1, 33CE was a full moon, and that this has to be Nisan 14, the day Jesus died.
