No Wisdom in Opposition to God's
The Bible again proves its divine wisdom in regard to the information available to the believer. As previously stated, the Bible was written for the common man, past and present. Many such could barely read. Thus when we see scientific knowledge condensed in a manner that all may understand, we appreciate God's divine wisdom in being able to inspire the written language so that even those with little education can follow it.
When we see
the age of the earth and the heavens being stated as "in the beginning," it becomes apparent that such a statement is simple, yet truthful; it is much more easily understood by men of all ages than if God had said: fifteen billion years ago followed by some difficult scientific dissertation. Even in our world today, I would like to meet the person who can envision and comprehend what fifteen billion years truly is. What short lived human may accurately conceptualize fifteen billion years? However, "in the beginning" needs no explanation to be understood.

Halos. I did write them about an important inquiry but received no response. Still, they demonstrate that there are things we are taught by present day science which are easily shown to be wrong. Still, they haven't adequately demonstrated to me that their own viewpoint is true and unassailable.

The first link is a speech by a former NASA engineer who turned from Atheism and Evolution to being a believer in creation. His presentation improves over the series and is quite funny. It makes some startling revelations about our knowledge about the solar system and its origin.
I must however comment on the fact that his beliefs about the creative days being 24 hour long is in opposition to my understanding of what the Bible teaches as will be demonstrated below.

The inspired word is certain and absolute. God Jehovah is the Creator. This accepts no dispute. The fact remains that God himself tells us that the only thing he created personally was the pre-human Jesus Christ, most likely the archangel Michael.

This person, as God's master-worker, was given instructions from God which he followed so as to make all things existing, the angels, the universe, our solar system and the biosphere of the earth.

Colossians 1:14-17 in whom we have the redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of the sins, 15who is the image of the invisible God, first-born of all creation, 16because in him were the all things created, those in the heavens, and those upon the earth, those visible, and those invisible, whether thrones, whether lordships, whether principalities, whether authorities; all things through him, and for him, have been created, 17and himself is before all, and the all things in him have consisted. Age of earth and the universe, Biblically speaking
Thus the age of the earth and the universe is stated as being from the beginning. (Gen 1:1) In Micah, such a beginning is said to be from "days of eternity" – whereby a sense of extreme age is conveyed.

Michah 5:2 . . . Et dont l'origine remonte aux temps anciens, Aux jours de l'éternité.
English translation: whose origin goes back to ancient times, to the days of eternity.
(AB) . . . His goings forth were from the beginning, even from eternity.
The logical conclusion of this surely permits any extreme age. As such there is no disagreement between the Bible and whatever scientists' claim may be presently, were in the past, or will be in the future. In fact, the Bible's way of referring to extreme age is aesthetically preferable to what scientists use today since any normal human, educated or not, may easily relate to it.
The six creative days and the seventh, God's day of rest.
Not 24hour days!
Let the Bible reader who takes the six creative days literally meditate on the following. Much work was done on the sixth day before God created Adam and Eve. While remembering that, take a serious look at what God made Adam do on the sixth day.
Only the main points are being highlighted! After creating Adam, God brings the various species of animals that are locally to Adam so as to have him name them; next, we find that because Adam is solitary, God creates Eve and brings her to him.
Gen 2:19-22, And the Lord God having formed out of the ground all the beasts of the earth, and all the fowls of the air, brought them to Adam to see what he would call them: for whatsoever Adam called any living creature the same is its name. 20And Adam called all the beasts by their names, and all the fowls of the air, and all the cattle of the field:
but for Adam there was not found a helper like himself. . . . a woman: and brought her to Adam. (DRC)
Adam was being asked to observe and remain with each kind of animal long enough to become familiar with that kind's behaviour and name it according to that assessment. Next, a deep sleep is on Adam while God creates Eve.
By this reference, we can see that the sleep induced was not nocturnal, but perhaps of a extended period that lasted until the woman had been created and her organism became operational. If you have any inkling as to what can be done in a 24hour day, you instantly must acknowledge that the Bible is talking about a day in the sense that is commonly used about time periods. Check any dictionary for this usage if you don't know this application.
Another affirmation that the seven days are of immense unknown length, not 24hour days, exists! How do we know? In Genesis 1:27-32, Adam was created where after the end of the sixth creative day was reached. Next, we are told that the seventh creative day started and with it God's rest period!
Genesis 1:27,31, And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them. . . . 31And God saw all the things that he had made, and they were very good. And the evening and morning were the sixth day. (2:1-3) So the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the furniture of them. 2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. 3And he blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Hebrews 4:1-6 1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you might seem to have failed of it . 2For indeed we have had glad tidings presented to us, even as they also; but the word of the report did not profit *them*, not being mixed with faith in those who heard. 3For we enter into the rest who have believed; as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest; although the works had been completed from the foundation of the world. 4For he has said somewhere of the seventh day thus, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works: 5and in this again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remains that some enter into it, and those who first received the glad tidings did not enter in on account of not hearkening to the word. (Darby)
The scriptural evidence from Hebrews is that the seventh day remains yet to be completed and in fact the implication is that the thousand year reign of Christ is to be part of it since the promised REST the Christians are expecting to enter into pertains to the fulfilment of their hope.
It is fairly well established by several denominations that Adam and Eve were created about, or a little more than, 6,000 years ago. Once the thousand year reign of Christ is added to that number by necessity because of Paul's statement in Hebrews, the unavoidable conclusion about how long each day must be at a minimum is in. From this scriptural proof,
it becomes clear that the seventh day is at least 7,000 years long. Since the Bible nowhere states the seventh day will conclude when Christ's thousand year reign is complete, there is then no way for us to claim that this seventh day cannot be millions of years long.
For these reasons, it is evident that each creative day's length cannot be defined with any certainty at all. All we can say with certainty about the length of
each creative day is – that it is unknown, and, that it is at least 7,000 years long. More will be said on page two about how science may have some way of limiting the length of this day.
Terraforming
In Wikipedia there is a fine article about Terraforming. One of the gods of this system of things, Carl Sagan, is mentioned and his terraforming opinions are part of the link below.
Under the subheading "History of scholarly study" there is a discussion about how to terraform Venus and Mars. Just before the subheading "Requirements for sustaining terrestrial life," this paragraph is found:
"The principal reason given to pursue terraforming is the creation of an ecology to support worlds suitable for habitation by humans. However, some researchers believe that space habitats will provide a more economical means for supporting space colonization. If research in nanotechnology and other advanced chemical processes continues apace, it may become feasible to terraform planets in centuries rather than millennia. On the other hand, it may become reasonable to modify humans so that they don't require an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere in a 1 g gravity field to live comfortably. That would then reduce the need to terraform worlds, or at least the degree to which other worlds' environments would need to be altered."
