Ransom - Page Three
Reverse links: The Ransom, Ransom Page Two
Page Three Index:
- Side Step
- God's justice
- How the ransom works
- The ransom then works through adoption!
We finished page two with 'Tooth for Tooth." Now the foundation as to why Jesus had to die has been laid.
Side step:
The death of Jesus caused the Law Covenant to be abolished and the Jews ceased to be God's covenant people. From Pentecost, the new spiritual Israelites, the Christian nation became God's Israel. These were covenanted by means of the New Covenant, the covenant for a Kingdom, and also the Abrahamic Covenant.
Galatians 6:15-16 For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision; but new creation. 16And as many as shall walk by this rule, peace upon them and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. (Darby)
God's justice
As we saw, it was necessary for Christ to die for his blood to be able to cleanse us of our sins. This cleansing only takes effect for those that exercise faith in Jesus' sacrifice.
How the ransom works
The ransom then works for an individual when he puts faith in it. He must believe in God, in Christ, and in all the various truths contained in the holy inspired writings.
Faith sanctifies, the truth sanctifies, the spirit sanctifies, the blood of Christ sanctifies, his body sanctifies, and finally the person's own holy conduct sanctifies.
The Christian MUST lead a holy life, a pure life for the above things to have any effect. (Scriptures for sanctification available upon request)
Hebrews 9:14, How much more shall the blood of Christ, who by the Holy Ghost offered himself unspotted unto God, cleanse our conscience from dead works, to serve the living God? (DRC)
1 John 1:7, the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (DRC)
Revelation 1:5, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and has washed us from our sins in his blood (DRC)
The ransom then works through adoption!
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty *God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with judgment and with righteousness, from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this. (Darby)
Jesus here is named the Father of Eternity. Paul tells us further that we become sons through adoption.
This adoption takes effect when a person is baptized. It must be qualified here that some destined to be Kings and Priests shall at a time of God's own choice become Born Again usually quite some time after baptism. (for questions ask) Baptism qualifies one to enter the new spiritual ark of salvation that generally leads to an earthly life in Paradise.
Galatians 4:5 That he might redeem them who were under the law: that we might receive the adoption of sons. (DRC)
Any comments and questions are welcome.
