Revelation Chapter Three

Bible used unless stated differently: ACV

Verse

1. A dire warning to the agents of Sardis is pronounced. Christ tells them that it is hearsay that they are alive since, in fact, they are truly dead.
And to the agent of the congregation in Sardis write, These things says he who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know thy works, that thou have a name that thou live, and thou are dead.
2. They were about to discard things unimportant to them. Here they are told, don't. Turn around and make strong that which is weak and deficient because they are lacking in good works.

3. If these Born Again Christians do not turn around and repent so as to produce good Christian works then they are done for.

4. A few among them have kept their white robes, their works of righteousness, and their purity and holiness.

5. He who endures and keeps doing good shall be saved – his name shall not be erased from Christ's book of life.

7. It is now the agent of the congregation in Philadelphiaurn's turn.

7. The key of David is explained in Isaiah 22:20-24. It refers to the Kingship of David, the dominion, the authority that the key holder possesses. Of course, Christ is this one, the Holy, the True one.

8. Verse eight is of import to all true Christians, especially though the remaining Saints. Here Christ recognizes their particular limitations and for this reason Christ holds open a door of opportunity to preach particularly to these ones who persist despite tribulations.

9. Christi promises that the unfaithful opposers shall come cringing in front of these persevering Saints– the church of Satan, the synagogue of Satan must bow to these. This church or synagogue of Satan presently is represented with all Christian churches opposing Biblical rock foundation truths.

10. They are here promised that they shall be spared the hour of test, the Great Tribulation, coming upon the whole earth. This literally means that they shall die before that time and that they during Christ's pariousia or presence shall receive the first resurrection.

11. Endurance however is needed till the end so as not to lose the crown they are promised if they run the course faithfully.

12. These Saints are indeed the temple of God that his spirit shall inhabit. Thus the one receiving the crown after a successful run is assured that he becomes a pillar in God's temple.

14. Christ now addresses the agent of the congregation in Laodicea.

16, 17. These are lukewarm, distasteful, neither much for nor against the cause. Rich, they believe they are, but mistaken they are. In fact Christ says "thou are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked." How sad for such Born Again Saints to be described thusly.

19. Still, Christ hasn't lost his love for them. He gives them this opportunity to repent and turn about so as to produce works befitting repentance.
